India's e-visa is open to 175 countries on the official list, including these Arab nationalities: Jordan, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Morocco, Palestine and Mauritania. Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen and others aren't currently on it, so their citizens apply for a regular visa through the Indian mission. India is a varied destination for residents of Türkiye: Delhi, Agra, Kashmir and Kerala, business trips, and treatment at well-known hospitals at sensible cost. But a common myth keeps coming up: "all Arabs and Turks get the Indian visa online". In fact the official list excludes many nationalities, including Turkish, Saudi, Egyptian and Iraqi. This guide explains who applies online and who needs a regular visa, as the official list stood at the date of this update.

The e-visa step by step

  1. 1
    Type

Tourism, business or medical, and 30 days, one year or five years depending on your plan.

  2. 2
    Application

A long government form completed carefully (parents' details, occupation, travel history) with a passport scan and photo.

  3. 3
    Payment and approval

The fee is paid online and the electronic approval usually arrives within a few working days; print it.

  4. 4
    Before arrival

Complete the electronic arrival card within 72 hours before travel, and make sure your flight lands at a permitted port.

Regular visas for ineligible nationalities (including Turks)

Those not on the e-visa list apply for a regular visa through the Indian mission or its application centre in Türkiye: an online form, then an appointment and submission of passport and documents. The file includes a valid passport, a Turkish permit for non-Turks, bookings or an invitation, a bank statement, an employer letter or company invitation for business, and a hospital letter for treatment. Start at least a month before travel.

Documents

  • A passport valid at least six months with two blank pages
  • A recent white-background photo
  • A return or onward ticket
  • A hotel booking or accommodation address
  • A regular Turkish permit for non-Turks (for the regular visa)
  • A company letter for business or a hospital letter for treatment

Common mistakes

  • Assuming your nationality is e-visa eligible without checking
  • A photo not meeting specifications
  • A visa type that doesn't match the purpose
  • Arriving at an airport not permitted for e-visas
  • Forgetting the electronic arrival card

Travelling for treatment

India is a known medical destination for cardiac, orthopaedic, transplant and eye surgery. Eligible nationalities have a medical e-visa with attendant visas; others get a regular medical visa. We arrange the hospital appointment, translated reports, nearby accommodation and flights.

Frequently asked questions

Which Arab nationalities can apply for the Indian e-visa?

According to India's official e-visa list: Jordan, the UAE, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Morocco, Palestine, Mauritania, the Comoros and Djibouti. Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Sudan, Algeria, Tunisia and Libya aren't currently on the list.

Can Turkish citizens get the Indian e-visa?

Türkiye isn't currently on the list of countries eligible for India's e-visa, so Turkish citizens apply for a regular visa through the Indian mission or its application centre in Türkiye.

Do UAE nationals get a visa on arrival in India?

Yes. UAE ordinary passport holders get a visa on arrival at designated airports including Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata, for up to 60 days and twice a year, in addition to the e-visa.

How long are tourist e-visas?

30 days, one year multiple entry, or five years multiple entry. The one- and five-year visas have an annual total stay limit and a continuous stay per visit that depends on nationality (90 days for most).

Who can never get an e-visa?

Holders of Pakistani passports or people of Pakistani origin must apply for a regular visa at an Indian mission; the e-visa and visa on arrival don't apply to them.

What documents does the e-visa need?

A scan of the passport page (valid at least six months with two blank pages), a digital white-background photo, a return or onward ticket, plus a company letter for business or a hospital letter for medical visas.

Can I enter through any airport?

No. E-visa entry is only through designated airports and seaports, while exit is from any port. We make sure your flight lands at a permitted port.

Is there an electronic arrival card?

Yes. Foreigners complete the electronic arrival card within 72 hours before arrival on the official portal or the Indian immigration app. It isn't a visa.

Do you organise medical trips to India?

Yes: the medical e-visa for eligible nationalities with attendants, or a regular visa for others, plus hospital appointments, nearby accommodation and flights.

How long does it take?

The e-visa is usually issued within a few working days. A regular visa through the mission takes longer, so start at least a month before travel.
