Ordinary Turkish passport holders fly into Mexico on the free SAE electronic authorisation instead of a visa, valid 30 days from issue for one entry. Anyone holding a valid US, Canadian, UK, Japanese or Schengen visa or permanent residence is exempt whatever their nationality and can stay up to 180 days. Emiratis are visa-free. Other nationalities, such as Syrians, Egyptians and Iraqis without those documents, need a consular visa.
Mexico is far but tempting: Cancún and the Caribbean beaches, Tulum and the Maya pyramids, and Mexico City. Getting in is easier than many think, especially for Turks and US visa holders.

Entering with a US or Schengen visa
Mexico exempts holders of a valid multiple-entry visa or permanent residence from the US, Canada, the UK, Japan or a Schengen state, for stays of up to 180 days; permanent residence from Chile and Colombia also counts. What matters:
- The document must be valid for the whole trip.
- A visa stamped in the passport or a permanent residence card; standalone temporary residence documents aren't accepted.
- A Turkish residence permit isn't on the list.

Frequently asked questions
Do Turkish citizens need a visa for Mexico?
Holders of ordinary (red) Turkish passports can get the free SAE electronic authorisation online instead of a visa, for air travel only on participating airlines. It's valid 30 days from issue for one entry and a stay of up to 30 days.
Can I enter Mexico with a US visa?
Usually yes. Holders of a valid multiple-entry visa or permanent residence from the US, Canada, the UK, Japan or a Schengen state are exempt from a Mexican visa and can stay up to 180 days. Only visas stamped in the passport and permanent residence cards count.
Do green or grey Turkish passport holders use the SAE?
No, the SAE doesn't cover them; they apply for a visa at a Mexican consulate.
Do Emiratis need a visa for Mexico?
No. Emiratis have been visa-exempt for up to 180 days since October 2018.
Do Syrians, Egyptians or Iraqis need a visa for Mexico?
Yes, unless they hold a valid visa or permanent residence from the US, Canada, the UK, Japan or Schengen. Otherwise the route is a visa from a Mexican consulate.
What's asked on arrival with an SAE?
The FMM immigration form, hotel booking, return or onward ticket, documents showing the trip's purpose, and proof of sufficient funds. Immigration has the final say.
Does the SAE work for land or sea entry?
No, air travel only. Land or sea entry needs a consular visa.
